శ్రీలంక లో పర్యటిస్తున్న ప్రధానమంత్రి శ్రీ నరేంద్ర మోదీకి ఆ దేశ అత్యున్నత పురస్కారం ‘శ్రీలంక మిత్ర విభూషణ’ ను అధ్యక్షుడు దిసనాయకే ఈరోజు ప్రదానం చేశారు. ఈ పురస్కారానికి కృజ్ఞతలు తెలియచేస్తూ, భారత్, శ్రీలంక ప్రజల మధ్య గాఢంగా వేళ్ళూనుకుపోయిన స్నేహాన్నీ, చారిత్రక సంబంధాలనూ ఇది ప్రతిబింబిస్తుందని శ్రీ మోదీ అన్నారు.
“అధ్యక్షుడు దిసనాయకే చేతుల మీదుగా ఈ రోజు ‘శ్రీలంక మిత్ర విభూషణ’ అవార్డును అందుకోవడం నాకు ఎంతో గర్వకారణం. ఈ గౌరవం నా ఒక్కడిది కాదు – ఇది భారతదేశంలోని 140 కోట్ల మంది ప్రజలకు లభించిన గౌరవం. ఇది భారత్, శ్రీలంక ప్రజల మధ్య లోతైన స్నేహం, చారిత్రక సంబంధాలకు చిహ్నం. ఈ పురస్కారాన్ని అందించినందుకు శ్రీలంక అధ్యక్షుడికి, ప్రభుత్వానికి, ప్రజలకు నా హృదయపూర్వక కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియజేస్తున్నాను” అని ప్రధానమంత్రి సామాజిక మాధ్యమ వేదిక ‘ఎక్స్’ లో చేసిన వివిధ పోస్టుల్లో పేర్కొన్నారు.
