પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ આજે (23-01-2017) 25 બાળકોને રાષ્ટ્રીય વીરતા પુરસ્કાર એનાયત કર્યા હતા.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ એવોર્ડ વિજેતાઓ સાથે વાત કરીને કહ્યું હતું કે, તેમની વીરતા તેમની નિર્ણાયકતા તેમજ તેમનું સાહસ દર્શાવે છે. તેમણે બાળકોને પ્રોત્સાહન આપ્યું હતું કે, આ એવોર્ડથી તેમના જીવનના ઉદ્દેશનો અંત આવી જતો નથી, આ એવોર્ડ તેમના માટે શરૂઆત જ છે.
બાળકોને 23 જાન્યુઆરીએ નેતાજી સુભાષચંદ્ર બોઝની જન્મ જયંતીનું મહત્વ યાદ અપાવીને પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ બાળકોને શક્ય તેટલું વાંચન કરવાની અને ખાસ કરીને નેતાઓ, રમતવીરો અને પોતાના જીવનમાં મહાન કાર્યો કરનાર લોકોની જીવનકથાઓ વાંચવાની સલાહ આપી હતી.
તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું કે, વીરતા માનસિકતા છે, શરીરને સ્વસ્થ રાખવામાં મદદ કરે છે, પણ મનએ મુખ્ય બળ છે. એટલે તેમણે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે, આપણે મનને મજબૂત બનાવવાની જરૂર છે. તેમણે બાળકોને એ સુનિશ્ચિત કરવાની વિનંતી કરી હતી કે તેમને અત્યારે જે પ્રસિદ્ધિ અને પ્રશંસા મળી છે એ તેમના ભવિષ્યની પ્રગતિમાં અવરોધરૂપ ન બનવી જોઈએ.
આ પ્રસંગે મહિલા અને બાળ વિકાસ મંત્રી શ્રીમતી મેનકા ગાંધી પણ ઉપસ્થિત હતા.
રાષ્ટ્રીય વીરતા એવોર્ડ યોજનાની શરૂઆત આઇસીસીડબલ્યુ – ઇન્ડિયન કાઉન્સિલ ફોર ચાઇલ્ડ વેલ્ફેર દ્વારા થઈ હતી, જેનો ઉદ્દેશ ઉત્કૃષ્ટ વીરતા અને સેવાનું પ્રદર્શન કરનાર બાળકોને સન્માનિત કરવાનો અને તેમના ઉદાહરણરૂપે અન્ય બાળકોને પ્રેરિત કરવાનો છે.
