প্রধানমন্ত্রী শ্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী প্রাক্তন ভারতীয় ক্রিকেটার সেলিম দুরানির প্রয়াণে গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করেছেন।
একগুচ্ছ ট্যুইট বার্তায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, “সেলিম দুরানিজী একজন বিশিষ্ট ক্রিকেট তারকার পাশাপাশি নিজেই একজন প্রতিষ্ঠানের মতো। বিশ্ব ক্রিকেটের দরবারে ভারতের উত্থানে তাঁর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রয়েছে। মাঠ ও মাঠের বাইরে তিনি তাঁর নিজস্ব শৈলীর জন্য পরিচিত ছিলেন। তাঁর প্রয়াণে আমি মর্মাহত। শোক-সন্তপ্ত পরিবার-পরিজন ও বন্ধুবান্ধবদের জানাই সমবেদনা। তাঁর আত্মার চিরশান্তি কামনা করি”।
“সেলিম দুরানিজীর গুজরাটের সঙ্গে বহু পুরনো ও শক্তিশালী যোগাযোগ ছিল। তিনি কয়েক বছর সৌরাষ্ট্র ও গুজরাটের হয়ে খেলেছেন। গুজরাটে তিনি তাঁর বাড়ি তৈরি করেন। আমার তাঁর সঙ্গে ব্যক্তিগতভাবে আলাপচারিতার সুযোগ হয়েছিল। তাঁর বহুমুখী ব্যক্তিত্বে গভীর প্রভাব বিস্তার করে আমার উপর। তাঁর অনুপস্থিতি নিশ্চিতভাবেই অনুভূত হবে”।
প্রধানমন্ত্রী প্রাক্তন ভারতীয় ক্রিকেটার সেলিম দুরানির সঙ্গে তাঁর সাক্ষাতের কিছু মুহূর্ত সকলের সঙ্গে ভাগ করে নিয়েছেন।

Salim Durani Ji had a very old and strong association with Gujarat. He played for Saurashtra and Gujarat for a few years. He also made Gujarat his home. I have had the opportunity to interact with him and was deeply impressed by his multifaceted persona. He will surely be missed.
