Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today met the Indian Community in Myanmar, at a reception hosted by the Indian Ambassador, at Nay Pyi Taw.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the world had changed its way of looking at India and the Indian diaspora over the last few months. He said the Indian community in Myanmar would also be proud of this. He said that this brings added responsibility on the diaspora across the world. He said the world was now keen to engage with India. He exhorted the Indian community to work towards development of both India and Myanmar. He spoke of the ancient cultural ties between the two countries. He said it is India`s responsibility to work for the welfare of its neighbours. He said the benefits of the SAARC satellite to be launched by India, would also be available to Myanmar. He said India will work towards a polio free region in South Asia and Myanmar. The Prime Minister also mentioned the Make in India programme launched by the Government.
